As a family business, Mr. Yates grew up acquiring, renovating, and selling properties with his family in South Africa, which permeated into other markets like New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and London. Shane has extensive expertise with a full spectrum of building, investment and property management experience within commercial spaces which include but is not limited to hospitality, restaurant and retail assets. As a board member of Heartland Foundation, Shane pursues his passion for building strong communities through empowering youth education. Shane enjoys spending his free time golfing, surfing and traveling.

George Mataele, MSW
Director of Research & Development
George Mataele, MSW, is the Director of Research & Development for Mataya Group, where he leads the development of innovative strategies, research initiatives, and growth opportunities that create long-term value for investors, partners, and the communities they serve.
George brings a unique multidisciplinary background that combines behavioral science, leadership development, organizational strategy, and business innovation. He earned his undergraduate education from Brigham Young University–Hawaii and his Master of Social Work from the University of HawaiĘ»i. Throughout his career, he has worked extensively in behavioral health, addiction recovery, family systems, and organizational development, helping individuals and organizations navigate complex challenges through evidence-based solutions.
As a researcher and strategist, George is passionate about identifying emerging market opportunities, designing scalable systems, and integrating data-driven decision-making into business growth. His work emphasizes innovation, operational excellence, and sustainable investment strategies that strengthen both financial performance and community impact.
George understands that the most successful organizations are built on integrity, service, strong relationships, and a commitment to continual learning. His leadership philosophy centers on developing people, fostering collaboration, and creating systems that produce lasting results.

Alisi Mataele

Alisi Mataele joins Mataya Group after 25 years of experience in transacting commercial real estate assets of all product types- retail, restaurant, office, industrial and hospitality. Ms. Mataele’s Agency and consultancy assignments have included private and institutional clients. Ms. Mataele holds a California Real Estate License and is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). She currently serves as the COO for Heartland Coalition and is a member of Tonga Red Cross. Alisi majored in Business with an emphasis in Management at Arizona State University.
Holly Yates
PROJECT MANAGER
An experienced Interior Designer and Project Management professional with a demonstrated history of working in the architecture & planning industry. Ms. Yates is skilled in AutoCAD, Creative Briefs, Communication, Multicultural Education, and SketchUp. As a strong sourcing specialist with a BA (hons) in Interior Architecture and Design from the University of Portsmouth, Holly knows how to get things done and exceed client expectations. Holly’s dedicated volunteer work with Playing For Change and Project Mercy have allowed her to contribute to causes close to her heart.
Joe S. Mataele
PRESIDENT, VALUE-ADD ASSETS
Mr. Mataele joins Mataya Group with over 40 years of experience in real estate and business distress consulting.
Mr. Mataele has a solid track record in several successful entertainment and real estate ventures.
He has a passion for music entertainment as he is an avid guitar and piano player. Mr. Mataele also is a board member of Heartland Coalition partnering with various government agencies throughout the U.S. to help revitalize certain distressed communities by creating programs to teach the local youth members skillsets and certain trades.
